Club News

A great day was had by all at the Cumann na mBunscol on Friday in Renmore. Gaelscoil Dara emerged winners on the day and are now through to the final which will be played next Thursday @2pm at Loughgeorge G.A.A. grounds. St. James’ had many juvenile players involved with the different schools (Renmore, Gaelscoil Dara and Merlin Woods). Many thanks to club school co-coordinators Keith Murphy and Gary Casey for hosting this event. Well done to the St. James’ U-13 squad and management. The Jimmies recorded a brilliant win away from home against Claregalway on friday evening. The score resulted St. James’ 2-8 Claregalway 2-4. James’ had many scorers on the night and among these players were Jack Folan 1-3 Darragh Neary 0-2 Lee Deavney 1-2 Joey O’Hara 0-1. Well done to both teams and managements for a good sporting match. The St. James’ U-12 Girls team had a very good win against Oranmore-Maree on Saturday in the county league semi-final. The Jimmies advance to the county final as a result. Well done to all players and management on this achievement. St. James’ senior team defeated Mountbellew Moughlough in the Galway Senior Division 1 League yesterday. The Jimmies traveled to Mountbellew and managed to grasp a win in the final minute of the game. This was an end to end tie with both teams giving it their all. Although both teams were missing key players, this game was an exceptional match. The standard of football was very high and it must be noted that the scores taken by James’ and Mountbellew were very good. The final score resulted St. James 2-8 (14) Mountbellew 1-10 (13). Finally hard luck to the St. James’ U-12 who were defeated to Carraroe in the City/West league last Sunday.
