The Jimmies took on Salthill-Knocknacarra this evening in the U-16 A County Championship at Cappagh Park. This game was a well contested match and both sides exchanged some excellent scores in the first half. Salthill took the lead but James’ clawed their way back into the game before the interval. The second half started bright for the Jimmies and good scores coming from Daniel McNulty and Eoin Finnerty paved the way for their side. Unfortunately some silly mistakes made by the Jimmies resulted with Salthill scoring. Two quick goals were conceded and Alan O’Donnell side could not counteract these mistakes on the scoreboard. The final score resulted St. James’ 1-10 Salthill-Knocknacarra 4-16. It is important to note that this St. James’ team are very young and most of the Feile winning side from 2016 make up the nucleus of the squad. The Jimmies had a good competitive performance on the evening. Players that performed well were Ian Casserly, Sean Neary, Stephen Flaherty Kelly, Eoin Finnerty, Daniel MucNulty, Dessie Hynes, Jack Greaney and Tony Loye.
