In 2003, Paul Conroy’s family hosted a team member from the Derry club Kilrea in the National Féile. Paul became friends with one of the Kilrea players, James Kielt. Fours years on in 2007, Paul captained the winning Galway minor team in Croke Park. The opposed team on the day was Derry, captained by James Kielt. Not only were both players captaining their counties but were also wearing the number 8 jersey and ended up marking one another. Paul and James have remained good friends over the years. Today the two player met once again to do battle in the NFL and it was Galway who emerged winners from this encounter.
