St. James’ 2-8
St. Michaels 4-9

The Jimmies took on City rivals St. Michaels at Westside this evening in the minor football league. The boy’s in blue opened the game on top and took the lead early with some well executed scores. Among these scorers were Liam Brannigan and Brian Harlowe. Nevertheless, James’ dug deep and responded with some excellent points from Ruairi Breathnach, Stephen Flaherty Kelly, Josh Pyne and a good goal coming from Brian Hale. Both teams exchanged scores and the home side led at the interval by three points. In the second half the Jimmies created a lot of chances but were unable to make it count on the score board. In addition, the opportunities missed by James’ were captalised at the opposite end by St. Michaels. The game was well in the balance up to the last ten minutes but unfortunately some mistakes made by the Jimmies resulted with Michaels raising two of the umpires green flags. Furthermore, this game was very competitive and both teams gave it there all. It will be very interesting if both sides are drawn against one another in the championship this summer. James’ had many good performances on the field this evening and among these players was Josh Pyne, Stephen Flaherty Kelly, Dion Walsh, Ryan O’Toole, Ruairi Breathnach, Luke Mulvaney, Bryan McSweeney and Brian Hale.
