The St. James’ minor team had a convincing win in the fourth round of the Minor league tonight. The Jimmies made the long journey out west to Connemara and faced a very physical Clifden side. The city men opened the scoring early on and added a tally of scores. Ryan Corcoran opened the game with the first point and this was followed by several scores coming from Cian Gilroy. Kevin Hourgian raised the umpires green flag on the tenth minute and this was an exceptional finish to say the least. Although James’ seemed to be on top of the game in the first half, Clifden clawed their way back into the game and narrowed the deficit to 4 points at the interval. In the second half James’ capitalized and extended their lead. Nevertheless, Clifden dug deep and too added some fine scores. James’ Goalkeeper Cian Costello Hynes made an excellent save for his side and directly after this save James’ worked the ball up the field and Ryan Corcoran rattled the back of the net. Cian Gilroy added a tally of scores to see James’ see out the game. The Jimmies had many outstanding performances on the field of play and among these were Cian Hynes, Rory Melody, Jack Greaney, Liam O’Reily, Bryan McSweeney and Kevin Hourgian. Josh Pyne and Ryan O’Toole put in a good shift at midfield and upfront Darren McPeake, Eoin Finnerty, Conor Boyce, Ryan Corcoran, Cian Gilroy all played well. In addition, other good performances involved Robbie Olusola, Athony Loye, Stpehen Flaherty Kelly, Byran Hale, Cian Gillespie and Dessie Hynes. An interesting factor to take into account is that James’ and Killannin have finished jointed 2nd,level on points whilst Oranmore-Maree have toped the group. The possible outcome will be that the teams in 2nd place will playoff in order to make the final against Oranmore-Maree.
