Club News

The St. James’ Ladies suffered their second defeat in the Intermediate championship this season. The Jimmies faced Barna last Saturday night in Barna and were narrowly defeated by a single point on the night. The game was an exciting encounter with both teams exchanging excellent scores. From a neutral perspective, one could be of the opinion that this game an exciting affair. The game was in the balance right up until the final whistle. Unfortunately for the James’ ladies, luck was not on their side and as a result they crashed out of the championship for the first time in three years. This year has been been a big test for the James’ ladies despite having won six county titles (League & Championship) in the last three years. Playing senior B league football in 2018 will only help improve their chances in Intermediate championship next season. Well done to all the management team, players, committee members and the people who supported the girls all year. The Jimmies will travel to Dublin in September to compete in the All-Ireland Intermediate 7-a-side tournament. In addition, they are also in a playoff for a shield which will take place in the coming weeks.
