Richard Malone who has joined the St James’ senior management team comes with a huge amount of experience in High Performance Sport particularly in field Hockey. Malone has been involved with Irish Hockey at numerous levels over the past ten years and performed numerous roles working with the Senior women and underage squad’s as a lead coach, assistant coach and video analyst. In 2010 he attend the inaugural Youth Olympic games which were held in Singapore with the Irish U17 team, he led the Irish U-18 girls to a European Nations 4th place finish in 2011 while winning the Celtic Cup in 2010 and 2012. He was named coach of the year in 2007 and led Connacht to their first ever underage inter-provincial title in the history of the sport. Furthermore, Malone was also selected on the Irish Institute of Sport on the Pursuit of Excellence Programme (PEP) where he completed the Horizon Programme in 2013. The course is aimed at the development of Ireland’s emerging high performance coaches. Richie is also no stranger to GAA having represented Renmore at underage level and minor and also played football while he attended St. Jaralth’s College Tuam. He will be focusing on the video analyses aspects in Gaelic games for the 2016 season at St James’ G.A.A.
