St. James’ enjoyed a successful and excellent football tournament at St. Mary’s College Galway on Saturday morning. The Jimmies defeated Barna and Salthill Knockncarra in the group stages but were unable to overcome Moycullen. Nevertheless, James’ finished 2nd in the group and this meant that they would take on Annaghdown in the semi-final of the cup. This was an epic tie and it ended in a draw. In addition, extra time had to be played and James’ took the lead and were on top of the game. Unfortunatley, the James’ team concided a late goal in the final seconds of the match. Moycullen went on to beat Annaghdown in the final. It must be noted that this was a well organised tournament by the St. Mary’s College and everyone at the club appreciate thier efforts. This is the fourth year of the football festival and the the role of honour consists of:
2014 St. James’
2015 Salthill Knocknacarra
2016 Oranmore-Maree
2017 Moycullen
Finally well done to the St. James’ team and management on asuper tournament. Thanks to all the parents and supporters for supporting the club.
